For many years my life-partner, Michael Fuller, and I have been spending part of the winter in Portugal and I've documented our travels with illustrated journal entries including sketches, paintings, and anecdotes. This book incorporates much of this material, but there’s a twist: The book is told through the eyes of a dog named Ruca, an alter ego I developed four years ago.
Ruca is a street dog and artist living in a quiet village on the south coast of Portugal. In DOG-EARED JOURNALS, readers get to see the world through Ruca’s eyes as he navigates the cobbled streets and rugged clifftops of his life. His perspective is fresh, four-legged, and often funny.
Each page is lavishly illustrated using a variety of techniques including pen and ink, watercolour, coloured pencil, photography, relief printing and more. Part travelogue, part artist’s journal, this book will appeal to artists, travelers, animal-lovers and those who simply have a curiosity about the world.
DOG-EARED JOURNALS ($19.95 paperback) will be available through amazon.com in early 2014. In the meantime it is available directly from me or by clicking on the Buy Now button above. Unfortunately, due to crazy shipping costs, I am only able to offer shipping within North America at this time. Digital copies for iPad (US$8.99) are available to anyone, anywhere, anytime and may be purchased through www.blurb.ca. The direct link for the e-book is above.
